Tương lai gần với thì hiện tại

be (am/is/are) + doing hiện tại tiếp diễn để nói về các việc đã sắp xếp (tương lai) để thực hiện (không dùng will trường hợp này).
⇒ He is playing tennis on Monday afternoon.
⇒ Steve isn't playing football next Saturday. He's hurt his leg.
⇒ Alex is getting married next month (not will get).
be (am/is/are) + doing nói về hành động ngay trước khi thực hiện nó.
⇒ I'm tired. I'm going to bed now.
Hiện tại đơn (I do) nói về lịch trình, thời gian biểu cố định, chương trình ... (cho các dịch vụ công cộng, chương trình TV ...)
⇒ My train leaves at 11.30, so I need to be at the station by 11.15.
⇒ What time does the film start this evening?
Với lịch của cá nhân thì dùng hiện tại tiếp diễn phổ biến hơn: ⇒ What time are you meeting Ann tomorrow?

I am going to do / be + going to + (do)

(am, is, are) + going + to + verb định làm gì đó, quyết định làm gì đó (quyết định, sẽ, dự định) .
⇒ I'm just going to make a quick phone call. Can you wait for me?
⇒ This cheese smells horrible. I'm not going to eat it.
(am, is, are) + going + to + verb quyết định làm mà không có kế hoạch từ trước.
⇒ I've decided not to stay here any longer. Tomorrow I'm going to look for somewhere else to stay.
something is going to happen: Từ tình huống thực tế, đoán sẽ dẫn tới hành động xảy ra cũng dùng be + going to + to
The man can't see where he's walking. There is a hole in front of him. ⇒ He is going to fall into the hole.
⇒ Look at those black clouds! It's going to rain.
was/were + going to + do (+something) đã định, suýt nữa (những là không thực hiện).
⇒ We were going to travel by train but then we decided to go by car instead.
⇒ I thought it was going to rain but then the sun came out.
